Gorvaert Flinck was born to Teunis and Saskia Flinck in 78 YC. His father managed to combine a distinguished career as a Paladin with equally distinguished work as a folklorist and poet. Unfortunately, Teunis' reputation was tarnished by his romantic view of the Khanid Kingdom and his Tetrimonic tendencies. Gorvaert inherited his father's ideals but not his optimism. Enlisting in the Amarr military, he served extensively under General Barlaeus, who sponsored his capsuleer conversion. Barlaeus' subsequent disgrace did nothing to moderate Gorvaert's fatalism.
